An astrolabe is a kind of scientific instrument. Astrolabes were first used by the ancient Greeks and later by Arab scientists. Astrolabes are used to find the right path from one place to another. Throughout history, Muslim pilgrims used them to find their way to Mecca, the holiest city in Islam, by land or by sea. This astrolabe was made in Baghdad, a great centre for learning and science in history.
