The Library

Open Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 12pm - 5pm, the library has a number of books that are relevant to the themes explored in the exhibition.

Library tours are available for school groups.

Park Playgrounds

This year, MIA has opened new play areas for children in the MIA Park. The play areas are for 2 - 5 year olds, 6 - 12 year olds and 13+ year olds and contain age-appropriate equipment. If you have chosen to visit the park in your trip to MIA, you are welcome to use the playground appropriate to the age of your students.

Parking

Parking is available for coaches in the MIA car park.

Access to the museum for school groups is through the Education Centre entrance located on the right hand side of the main museum and across the bridge.

Lunch

Students can bring their own lunch however, bags and water bottles are not allowed in the museum and should remain on the bus whilst the students have their tour or workshop. Lunch must not be eaten in the museum but can be eaten in the Park. If your school would prefer, you can order our Lunchboxes which can be collected from the café and eaten in the park.

If your students bring their bags in to the museum, you will be asked to return them to the bus before your tour can proceed.

Arrival times

If you arrive early, you may be asked to wait in the park until a few minutes before your tour is due to begin. However, if there are no other schools waiting for their tour and a Museum Guide is free, you may be taken in to the galleries early. This decision is at the discretion of the Head of Museum Guides. During an exhibition, we can have many school tours on one day - for this reason, it is important you arrive on time for your booked tour so as not to delay any of the other schools visiting on the same day. If your school is late, you may have to wait for a previous tour to finish before yours can begin.
