    Teachers Tours

Tours of our permanent collection, special exhibitions and library are led by our experienced guides. Tours last for 30-40 minutes and are available from 9am – 1pm on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

We ask that you have enough adult helpers with your group, with a ratio of 1:8 for primary schools and 1:15 for elementary/secondary schools. Tours must be booked at least one week in advance.

Science in Art (Grades 3-12)

This new tour has been designed to link with aspects of the Science Curriculum. Students will learn about science in Islamic civilisation by exploring MIA's scientific instruments, manuscripts and natural materials. These tours are designed as a starting point for further activities in the classroom.

Epic Tales Tour (Grades 3-12)

Every object tells a story, but some tell tales that are hundreds of years old! This Permanent Gallery tour looks at MIA's collection by focusing on objects which give insights into historic epics from the Islamic world.

Animals Tour (Grades 1-3)

For pupils in Grades 1 to 3, we offer a journey of discovery through the world of animals and stories from the museum's collection in a tour designed for younger children. We invite students to explore the natural world through MIA's collection.
